MLeague 2020

MLeague 2020 Update

You may all be aware that the State Government has announced all community sport can recommence from 1 July.  The State Government has also announced that from 1 July the number of people allowed inside indoor venues will be determined by the ‘one person per four square metre rule’ with no upper limit.  While this looks like good news for M League, we will continue to monitor the situation and seek guidance around what will be in future Public Health Orders and how it will impact our competition.

We have planned at this stage for M League to commence on or around the 20th September but are still awaiting confirmation on details and we will provide more information when we can.

Changes in 2020

MLeague actionClub Affiliation

Commencing this year, the Men’s NSW Committee have taken the decision to move to a more formal and structured approach by having Club’s affiliate with the Men’s Netball NSW Association.  This is a huge step forward for our Association and will ensure we are aligning with the Sport Australia, Netball Australia and Netball NSW governance models.

We would like to encourage Club’s who affiliate support the growth and development of Men’s netball by growing their own team numbers – thereby creating a real Club and Team mentality.  This includes Junior Teams.  Affiliation fees for 2020 have been set at $20 per club.  The Application form will be released within the next 2 weeks along with further information regarding the process.

Men’s Division 1

In 2020, we will still be playing our normal M League Division 1 competition, but there will be a mix of games being played on Sunday nights initially and then moving to Monday nights to play at the same time as the Courtcraft Summer Series run by Netball NSW.

It is important to note that Clubs will be required to nominate what teams they anticipate entering in 2020.  Clubs must be prepared to be in a full (and proper) uniform from Week 1 and preferably with Coaches and Managers appointed for this Division.

Division 1 will be limited to 6 teams, and a paper grading process will occur if we receive more team nominations.  The rules for the Division 1 teams will be the same as the 2019 competition with the amended Rules to also be released in the next week.

We are excited about the future of Men’s and Mixed Netball in NSW and with more changes to announce in the coming weeks we look forward to the largest number of teams and registered players than ever before in our MLeague.
